Onyejido Triggers Reps Momentum in Nwangele/Nkwerre/Isu/Njaba Federal Constituency
…Promises stronger representation, early mobilisation
The political atmosphere in the Nwangele/Nkwerre/Njaba/Isu Federal Constituency is beginning to gather pace as Labour Party aspirant, Chief Solomon Godwin Yagazie Onyejido, steps up consultations and consolidates support ahead of the next general election cycle.
Speaking during a statewide engagement with party leaders and stakeholders in Owerri recently, Onyejido positioned his aspiration around what he described as effective representation, grassroots inclusion, and improved federal presence in the constituency.
He said his decision to seek office is driven by the need to ensure that communities across the four local government areas receive visible development outcomes and fair access to constituency projects.
“We are the largest Federal Constituency in the federation and we possess strong bargaining power to attract development. If elected, I will ensure that every project due to our constituency is brought home for the benefit of our people.”
Onyejido also stressed that political engagement beyond the constituency would be key to achieving development goals, noting the importance of building relationships across different regions of the country.
According to him, wider political collaboration would help strengthen access to opportunities and improve the constituency’s bargaining position at the national level.
On election strategy, the aspirant disclosed plans to strengthen grassroots structures through trained polling unit agents who will monitor the electoral process and safeguard votes.
“If we properly secure our votes and ensure transparency at the polling units, there will be no room for manipulation or electoral theft. We are committed to ensuring maximum security during the election process. I am Labour and Labour is me. I have no other political home and I have no intention of defecting in the future. I am contesting because my people believe in me and trust my capacity to deliver.”
Beyond political messaging, Onyejido highlighted his ongoing community interventions, including transport support for mobilisation, scholarships for students, and empowerment initiatives for traders and artisans.
“Every year, I support workmen and empower people in different trades. We will continue to support students in universities and provide opportunities that will improve the lives of our people.”
He urged constituents to remain supportive of the Labour Party as preparations gradually intensify.
At the Labour Party State Secretariat in Owerri, Mazi Excel Ochiama-Nwaneri, a member of the National Working Committee, encouraged the aspirant to sustain grassroots engagement and maintain political momentum.
“All the aspirants are our children, and we expect the people to support those who possess the capacity to deliver quality leadership. I wish you success in your political journey.”
The Imo State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Charles Ugochukwu, also assured party members of the state leadership’s readiness to support committed aspirants.
“As an aspirant, recognize your people, your Local Government Areas and your State. Do everything necessary to actualize this dream and the state chapter of the party will support you.”
