Former Transition Committee Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise and Special Adviser to Governor Okorocha on Political Matters, Chief Hilary Eke has been accused of being a clog in the wheel of progress in the area.
Arising from one of their meetings, the Ezinihitte Mbaise Political Leaders Forum alleged that Chief Eke while in office as the Sole Administrator of the Local Government ran the council aground by doing away with council property.
In their statement signed by Chief Ben Amanze and made available to Imo Trumpeta Newspaper, apart from the allegations against the TC Chairman, Chief Eke, he was also accused of holding meetings and working with Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to destabilize Ezinihitte Mbaise and the government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
According to the statement, “It is on record that during the re-run House of Reps. election, Chief Eke sold out to PDP that cost APGA’s victory as it was alleged that he attempted to force the candidate Chief Chidi Ibe to allegedly pay a whooping sum of N3million. But where the candidate was unable to meet up with his demands he played masterly market”.
While expressing surprise why such a person should still be part of the Rescue Mission, the forum insists that, “subsequently, we advise Owelle Rochas Okorocha to immediately dismiss Chief Hilary Eke from office because he has been a disgrace to the administration built on integrity”
The group however, commended Governor Okorocha for his laudable projects going on throughout the area especially the massive road construction and Ultra Modern school buildings.
Reacting, Chief Eke denied ever selling council property insisting that no council boss has the right to sell LGA property than the ministry. “It is the ministry that undertakes such action and not Chairmen. It is a pure lie and blackmail for anybody to accuse me of that.
On anti-party, Eke said that such does not exist as it was the handiwork of those jealous of his rich political profile adding that he has done great things for the people by Ezinihitte to be branded enemy of progress.
