JOYOUS FUTURE ON THEIR WEDDING DAY 13TH APRIL, 2013

 

 

It was like a political rally last Saturday 13th April as the daughter of  Engr. Joe and Prof Edna Matthews Njoku of FUTO, Chibuzo went to the altar with her heartthrob of about seven years Dr Chidiebere Legacy, a former President of SUG IMSU. The wedding ceremony which took place at Egbu Anglican Cathedral was presided by Prof Iheagwam and host of other clergymen. In his sermon, the clerics admonished the newly wedded to always love and cherish one another and be always sincere, tolerant and hold on to God at all times to ensure a blissful marriage.

 

Speaking at the reception, the President of the Pan African Parliament and member representing Mbaitolu/Ikeduru at the Federal House of Representative, Hon. Bethel Amadi who also chaired the occasion described the groom as a hardworking, intelligent, resourceful young man. He also noted his relationship with the family of the bride stressing that the galaxy of women in politics and notable politician who have come to show solidarity says a lot about the person of the bride’s mother who is a dedicated woman mobilizer. Hon Amadi noted that with the background of the couple, he has no doubt that the union will last a life time. He called on people to give them positive support at all time.

 

In her own comments, Her Excellency,  Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, wife of the governor of Imo State said that the mother of the bride Prof Edna is a special woman that occupies a special place in her heart. The wife of the governor noted that she came to show solidarity to a woman of substance as far as politics is concerned in Nigeria and to celebrate a couple that was made in heaven. She prayed that God will bless the marriage with fruit of the womb.

 

Speaking to newsmen, the bride expressed joy saying, “ I feel so happy, I feel so proud and I feel blessed to have a man like him as a husband. My staying abroad and him in Nigeria never affected our relationship because I know I have his heart and a nice man like him, knows what he wants. Today, I promise I will make him happy forever.” Talking to the press, to, the groom Dr Chidiebere Ogugua Okoro, a resident doctor in IMSUTH Orlu, who is popularly known as Legacy during his time as SUG President IMSU expressed happiness, adding that the occasion will live a tremendous mark in his life. He said he is the happiest man on earth having Chibuzo as a wife. “ Am most happy and elated, I feel like the president of the world today, to be appreciated by the kind of quality people who have come to grace our wedding. God has been with us, God will continue to be with us and I will always love and cherish my wife for life.” He concluded by thanking the wife of the Governor, Hon Bethel Amadi, Sec PDP Imo State, Sir George Egu, the Vice Chancellors IMSU and FUTO  and other distinguished politicians, members of the academia, business community and his former colleagues in Aluta for being part of their joy.

 

Speaking to journalist, the bride’s mother Prof Chief Edna Matthews-Njoku of FUTO said her happiness knows no bounds. She said she is highly honoured by the presence of the wife of the governor of Imo State who she described as a woman of honour who is worthy of respect. I am most grateful to Her Excellency Nneoma Okorocha, a dear sister, a woman who wants to make things better who out of her tight schedule made out time to be with us on this joyous moment, to Hon Bethel our leader, Barr Nzimako, all the big wigs of political parties  PDP, ACN APGA, my colleagues in the academic, Women groups from all over Imo State, I feel highly honoured by the beautiful people that have come to show solidarity on by daughters wedding with her husband I have know so well as a good man.” she added that she is not surprise because as ACN Woman leader in 2011, a woman mobilizer of note, she has in one way or the other worked with or will work with all politicians that have come to show solidarity because ones a woman leader always a women mobilizer. Prof Edna noted that her daughter a first Class Law graduate of Birmingham University London is a down to earth material groomed by world class parents who are happily married and no doubt she and her husband who is also a fire brand Medical Doctor and an activist will make a good happy home.

 

There were many dignitaries from in and outside the country that graced the occasion. There were a lot to eat and drink and guest were treated to assorted dishes and choice wines. Entertainment was provided by House of Humour based in Owerri.
