Team Play Plus Discipline

Equal Success _Sam Obugh

Bussdor United Football Club, onTuesday went a step further to announce the rebirth of the onetime Pro-League side, when it qualified for the Imo State Federation/Governors Cup final.

In the first semi-final game played at the Dan Anyiam  Stadium, the team eliminated hard fighting Police Machine on penalty 4  3  after the normal time ended goalless.

Speaking to Trumpeta immediately after the game, the team manager, Sam Obugh (the elder brother to John Obugh, Nigeria’s U-20 team Coach) attributed his team’s success to a combination of discipline, team play dedication and God’s favour.

“I am happy that our efforts have been rewarded with a place in the State fed/Gov.’s cup.

“When I took over as the TM, I informed both the Coaches and players that for us to achieve success, we must inculcate discipline and make it our watch word and that’s exactly what the boys have exhibited today.

“Our target is to reach the state final and the national Federation cup, then we can take it from there.

“What we have now is young team that will grow into a better team in the near future and we are also doing well in the nation-wide league (Amateur) were we also hope to gain back promotion to elite league.

The Abia State born US trained football administrator also used the opportunity to say thank you to the club proprietor Chief Oscar Igbokwe who has worked tirelessly to use his resources in promoting the team.

Bussdor Utd will on Saturday May 4 take on Heartland fc in the final at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, although unconfirmed information reaching Trumpeta indicates that the team may be disqualified from the tournament an act of gross indiscipline showcased by some fans of Bussdor Utd.

Pillars, Heartland Ordered To Replay In Abuja

League champions Kano Pillars and Federation cup champions Heartland fc have been ordered to re-play their abandoned Nigeria Professional League on May 29.

The League Management Company (L M C) have ordered a re-play of the botched week 8 NPFL game which was abandoned after a Policeman shot a fan inside the Sani Abacha  Stadium in Kano.

According to a report credited to the LMC Chief executive, Salisu Abubarka, after listening t both clubs presentation on Monday and Tuesday ordered a re-play on the 29th of May at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja.

Pillars had hoped that the match will be awarded to them because Heartland refused to continue the game even after normalcy was restored following a fans protest as a result of the Police shooting.

Heartland on the hand demanded they be giving the three points and the three goals because the home fans encroached on the pitch.

Another inside source further hinted to Trumpeta that both clubs did reserve their comments over the LMC’S decision

However, some soccer pundits in and around Imo have expressed their displeasure over the decision, arguing that it makes nonsense of the laid down rules of Nigerian football asking who will foot the bills of Heartland during the game.

Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the league body may still investigate Pillars over their inability to provide adequate security in that same game and will decide if they (Pillars) will continue playing their home games at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, venue of that ill-fated Match.

Golden Eaglets Indiscipline Worries NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has warned the Golden Eaglets to be up and doing or they would be thrown out. Smarting from the team’s runners-up finish at the 2013 CAF U-17 Championship, the NFF has categorically told the coaching crew not to condone any undisciplined conduct ahead of the 2013 world cup in the UAE.

A statement from the team’s media officer, Morakinyo Abodunrin, quoted NFF, Director of technical, Emmanuel Ikpeme, as telling the coaching crew not to condone any indiscipline.

‘Trumpeta’ Sports Desk recalls that the Eaglets had on Saturday lost 4  5  on penalty kicks after a 1  1  draw in the final match of the CAF U-17 Championship in Marakiech, Morocco.

Earlier in the group stages, they had lost to the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, even though both sides joined two others qualifying for the October event in the United Arab Emirates.

“I have been following this team for a very long time but I am not happy with the conduct of some players during the duel against Cote d’Ivoire were defender Izu Omego earned a red card”, Ikpeme said.

He however attributed the team’s loss on Saturday to indiscipline, “personaly, I won’t feel good without saying this because we threw away the opportunity of becoming African Champions at this level due to irresponsible behavior.

“Specifically, the issue of red card and penalty kick really bothers everybody,” the NFF Director of Technical concluded.
