As Rescue Mission Celebrates 2 Years Oparandudu, Nnana Okoro, Others, Dazzle Imolites

Three among the litany of Commissioners Serving in the Rescue Mission Administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha Administration thrilled the tumultuous crowd that converged at Wood Events Centre, to celebrate Freedom Day with outstanding presentation of their achievements in office after two years.

They are Nick Oparandudu, (Commissioner, Works), Barr (Mrs) Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro, (CGC and Chieftaincy Affairs) and Uche Nwosu (Lands and Housing). Others whose presentation attracted thunderous ovation from the crowd include Barr (Mrs) Adaora Ijezie (Agriculture), Barr. Soronandi Njoku (Attorney General and Justice Commissioner).

Public Utilities and Public Safety Commissioner, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, also made a good presentation of his scorecard.

Oparandudu, who replaced Sir Jude Agbaso, the impeached Deputy Governor of Imo State who doubled as Works Commissioner, gave a vivid account of the Ministry in two years. He revealed that over N27 billion naira has been invested by the Okorocha administration for the construction and renovation of rural roads across Imo State.

He said in two years, over N15 billion naira has been expended in executing the projects, stating that over 200 kilometres of road has been asphalted in the state.

Oparandudu added that to transform the state to a one city state remains the priority of the Rescue Mission Administration. This he said informed the reason for the construction of several roads which he described as the arteries of the Imo economy.

The Works Commissioner further revealed that reconstruction of internal roads and          pot holes project which is ongoing, rank among priority projects the state Government has embarked upon.

Earlier, Works & Housing Commissioner in his presentation, Barr Uche Nwosu, said his Ministry has changed the landscape of Imo State.

He stated that in two years, the Housing Ministry has completed projects such as Odenigbo Centre, the Presidential Lodge, Deputy Governor’s Lodge, the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers, SSG and Commissioner’s Quarters, the new CGC Office Complex and a new Liaison Office in Abuja.

According to him, his Ministry has successfully overseen the completion of Naze roundabout, Okigwe road and Assumpta Cathedral roundabout which is undergoing construction.

He stated that some land owners whose lands were used for some projects have been compensated adequately while Imo Geographical Agency have been set up to ensure computerization of all land related matters.

In her submission, CGC and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner, Barr (Mrs) Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro, said her Ministry has driven to success and reality, the Community Government Council (CGC), one of the cardinal programmes of the Rochas Okorocha administration.

 

She revealed that her Ministry has made available some funds, while most of the communities in the state have provided a hectare of land to boost food production.

Barr Nnanna-Okoro added to stem the alarming rate of Ezeship tussle in communities across the state, she compelled communities in the state to withdraw Ezeship cases in court, revealing that such measure has drastically reduced the number of litigations at the law courts.

Public Utilities and Public Safety Commissioner, Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, said his Ministry in two years, has contributed to reduce crime in the state with the introduction of Imo Security Network.

“We donated 100 hilux vans to the military and the police. There is steady street lights in less 100 days. We partnered with PHCN by providing 80 KVA transformers that has boosted power supply in the state” he said.

Nwachukwu stated that soon, plans are in top gear to reticulate water in Owerri through concessioning of water schemes ongoing in the state.
