The Academic Staff Union of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri have been enjoined to embrace peace, unity and mutual understanding among themselves. The Rector of the institution, Dr. (Mr.) Celestina Njoku made the call at a press conference at the 1000 capacity hall when she received the new Governing Council of the institution led by the chairman and other members.
The Rector stressed the need for coorperation of the members of the new staff council in order to achieve their fundamental aim of academic excellence without qualms. Mrs. Njoku stated that the 12th Governing Council will succeed in piloting the affairs of the polytechnic and that their administration is accessible and ready to take the institution to enviable heights since academic staff Union leaders have resolved their dispute amicably.
Responding, the Chairman of the governing council, Dr. Adol Yusuf acknowledged the efforts of the students and the staffers. He applauded the new structures in the school.
He appealed to leaders of the union to support the council, while he commended the Federal Government on the state of the polytechnic especially in renovating of some dilapidated buildings.
