NCSU Elects New Exco

For the first time in the history of Labour movement in Imo state, a physically challenged worker, comr. Clement Nwiwu (Otimkpu) has been elected into position of leadership at the state level.
In a keenly contested election of new executive officers at the end of the 4th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, NCSU (Imo State Council) at FSP Mbari in Owerri, Comr. Otimkpu beat his rival, Comr. Dike Paul C. to become the Vice Chairman of union.
The Chairmanship position was grabbed by a veteran labour teader, Comr. (Chief) M.I.Onyeneke (Omeudo). He got 167 votes while his rival, Comr. Jeph Iheanacho netted 160 votes other officers elected were Comr. Okonkwo Justus Onyedikachi, state Asst. Secretary Comr. Uche Nwigwe, state treasurer and Comr. Okey Egwumba, state auditor.
Earlier in his address, the outgoing Chairman, Comr. Magnus Ohaeri noted that aware of the exploitation of the political class, the state council engaged the services of kuruger and Crux, an international developer to build a 2,000 housing units for Imo workers.
While commending the Imo state government for its labour policies, Ohaeri appealed to the governor for an immediate end to the 1% deduction from the worker’s salaries.
In a good will message, the Federal Ministry of labour in the state observed that NCSU has always been at the forefront of labour movement in the country.
Represented at the event were the state Head of Service, the president of the NCSU while the general secretary of the union came in person. Observers also came from NCSU in Abia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Ebonyi states.
