The State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman of Contact and Mobilization Committee, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, has emphatically said that the Imo State House of Assembly is under Governor Rochas Okorocha’s armpit. Speaking in a PDP sensitization rally at Onuimo and Okigwe Local Governments over the weekend, Chukwueke said that his assertion is rooted from the obvious reason that the self-acclaimed governor has subjugated the local government authority, IMHA under his total control. As a result Okorocha categorically says that he runs an-emergency government as authorized by the Members of the Imo House. Adding that, he has actually encapsulated and compromised the Members, making him the judge and the jury while ignoring due process and encouraging penury in Imo.
Chief Chukwueke expressed that Governor Rochas is instrumental to the total killing of local government administration as he has refused to conduct election at the grassroots and allowing rural people to choose their representatives through free and fair poll. He accused the Governor of glorifying poverty in the state. “Okorocha’s birth day gift to Imo people is that he will never forget the destitute till he dies…we are not interested in him remembering the poor. Imolites do not want poverty. They hate poverty. Rochas can go elsewhere, not in Imo and find poor people there till he dies”. He says Okorocha should resign with immediate effect as he has failed Imo people.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at a PDP contact and mobilization rally at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Mission Ezelu, Okwe in Onuimo LGA, Imo State, on 27th September, 2013, the leader of the group, Chief Chukwueke stated that President Jonathan has the constitutional right as a Nigerian to recontest for presidency in 2015. He challenged those who say President Jonathan should not recontest in 2015 to challenge him in primaries and general election. Emphasizing that Jonathan is geared to creating jobs to the youths and empower the women. The Owerri West political and businessman maintained PDP will create enabling environments and grow Nigeria economy when voted into power in 2015. He thanked Onuimo people for their massive turn out on the sensitization rally and promised them of the state PDP total support.
Also speaking, Mr Chidi Dike said PDP in Onuimo is one family, a family which is united. He urged Onuimo party loyalists to be committed and always remain law abiding to move the society forward. He begged party leadership to shun the imposition of candidates for election to be victorious at polls. He described the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as a reliable politician.
In his words, the member representing Onuimo in the IMHA, Hon (Prince) Ekwebelem Robertson (Deputy Minority Whip) denied the accusation by PDP members that he plays anti-party activity in the House. He said he only uses diplomacy to gain something from the state government for his constituency, and that he refused to resign from PDP when the Governor told non-APGA House Members to join APGA or face subjugation. He stipulates that he is still solid in PDP.
In their speeches, Hon Sampson Nze (Onuimo LGA Chairman), Ken Osuji, Ibezim Margaret (Woman Leader, Onuimo) and O. R. Ozuzu, maintained that PDP in Onuimo is consistent and strong. They warned of imposition of candidates for election which has been disastrous to the party. They thanked the state team for the timely visit.
Similarly, the contact and mobilization committee rally at Okigwe LGA was lively and colourful as political aspirants made their intentions known before the people.
While addressing the gathering at Police Field Ope, Okigwe LGA, Imo State, on 28th September, 2013, the state PDP Chairman on contact and Mobilization Committee, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, explains that PDP is one, saying no one can stop President Jonathan from emerging victorious in 2015 general election. He urged Okigwe people to stay tight in PDP as to triumph.
One of the political aspirants for Senate, Professor Nnamdi Obiareri, said that the rally is the first step to success. He maintained that Nigerians must not compromise their sovereignty in the forth coming National Conversation. He disclosed that he has been endorsed by the six local governments in Okigwe to contest.
The Okigwe PDP Chairman, Hon Sunny Ndukwe, Nkechi Nkwonu (Woman Leader), Engr Ebere Udeagu, Patrick Ndubueze, Okechukwu Udu, thanked the state team for the tour. They said PDP in the area has never failed election and will not.
