Mbaise Unity Cup Comes To Its Crescendo On Sunday

The seventh edition of the Mbaise Unity cup will on Sunday November 3 come to its crescendo at the Amuzi Central Primary School field near St Jude Catholic Church in Amuzi, Ahiazu LGA.
According to Local Organizing chairman, Mr Nicholas Mba, the two teams that will vie for the giant trophy are Ibeko fc (the defending champions) and Ever Green fc.
Reacting to Trumpeta, the donor of the annual competition, Hon Chukwuma Njoku (Akaepkuchi Onwa), stated that this year’s final will be different from other finals as the spectators will also go home with prizes from the raffle ticket that has been selling since the inception of the tournament adding that the Generator, Motor Cycle and Bicycle will be won on Sunday.
He however, added that the competition which has over the years discovered numerous talents and competed for by teams from far and wide is also used to celebrate the feast of St. Jude in the Catholic Church as many dignitaries are expected to storm the venue for the epic event including the House Member Representing Ahiaz-Mbaise LGA in the State House of Assembly, Hon Mrs Adaku Ihuoma who will be the special Guest of honor.
Prizes will be giving out to the winners and individual performers

Jafac Kicks-off Soccer Fiesta In Orlu Zone

All is set for the kick-off of the maiden Orlu Zone Communities Football Competition initiated and sponsored by Chief Chidi Felix Idiga (JAFAC).
According to the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Hon Eddy Olumba, the competition is billed to kick off on Saturday November 2, at the Sam Okwaraji Stadium Orlu and will be competed for by all the Communities in the four Federal Constituency across the four designated centers adding that the grand finale is expected to take place on December 28.
Addressing newsmen recently on the competition, Hon Eddy averred that the tournament is part of Chief Idiga’s programs to empower the Youths of Orlu Zone and help to foster Peace and Unity among the Communities of the Zone, also to shift the minds and thinking of the Youths away from avoidable social vices like Stealing, armed robbery and Kidnapping as they will be kept busy especially during the yuletide period.
He further stated that above all, the competition will also help the players discover their hidden God’s given talents and be exposed for professional football within Nigeria and abroad.
Continuing the LOC chairman revealed that because registration for the soccer feaster is free about 200 communities are already registered for the two Months event and that in his humanitarian way of doing things the donor has given out balls and other soccer martials including jerseys as well transportation fees for the teams to and from their match venues.
The winner of the giant trophy will be going home with the sum of N600, 000, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up will also take home N300,000 and N150,000 respectively as arrangements have been concluded to affiliate the competition with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), the Nigerian Referees Association (NRA) and Club sides to help give the players proper exposure and professional opportunities

All things being equal, the inaugural 5-A-Side Football Tournament for the Military, Paramilitary and other uniformed Forces in Owerri, tagged “The Owerri 5-A-Side Special Forces Tournament”, organized by Junic Recreation Center will hold this November.
According to reports reaching Trumpeta Sports Desk, the two week competition which will become an annual event, is aimed at promoting closer interaction and working network amongst the gentlemen and women in uniform in a benign atmosphere.
In a special chart with Trumpeta the Managing Director of Junic Recreation Center, Mr John Amadi disclosed that the tournament will take place at the newly built 5-A-Side Astro pitch located at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Recreation Park a long side Akanchawa Road, New Owerri.
He however noted that the tournament will also be aimed at, creating atmosphere for bonding among the gentlemen of the uniformed forces which will in turn foster good working relationship and mutual understanding between the forces.
It will also promote the wellbeing of gentlemen and women in uniform by reinforcing good health and fitness through spot while talents will be discovered as well as provide an informal atmosphere for discussing security issues in the State.
Teams expected to take part in the championship includes, the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Prisons, Nigerian Customs, NSCDC, Nigerian Immigrations, the State Security Service, NDLEA, Nigerian Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Commission and others.
Meanwhile, in a related development Junic chief executive informed that in no distant time the media men will also be locked in their own battle of a 5-A-Side football tournament to help harmonize their working relationship.
