IGR Task Force Clamps Down On Govt Officials

The newly inaugurated task force on illegal revenue collection has shifted its searchlight on officials of the Imo Rescue Mission team.
The task force members on Monday swung into action in Owerri metropolis to uncover some irregularities linked with government officials our source disclosed.
The chairman of the task force Hon Chief Okey Azu who confirmed the story said officials of the government who were recently dissolved still operate secretly to collect revenue in the name of Government.
He hinted that the groups parading themselves as task force on illegal use of machine in Owerri are on their own and not for the government .
According to him, the groups have been dissolved but they refused to handover. “Am surprised that all the money they collect from those they arrested for illegal use of motor cycle was not accounted for even up till now” Hon Okey Azu disclosed.
He however warned those rescue mission members doing such things to redress their steps or be prepared to face the wrath of the law, adding that illegal collection of Revenue is a sin and sabotage against the state.
The chairman of the task force also announced that any illegal collector of IGR discovered from now on must be prosecuted no matter his position in the society.
He disclosed that Imo State Government has lost big amount of fake IGR collector.
“It is now time to call a spade a spade, by exposing those behind this fraudulent act” the chairman insisted.
Meanwhile the state Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has received Audit report a special committee that carried verification exercise in both ministries and local government areas.
Reports from the committee shows so many factors laid to the unnecessary rise in the state wage bill.
According to record, over 92% of Imo allocation is used as salary for Imo Workers and Government appointees information disclosed that high percentage of this goes to ghost workers. This situation as we learnt has made the Governor very uncomfortable.
Moreover our source revealed that some of those who close to government have secret account where the use to siphoned public fund.
