The people of Agbala in Ishiala Umudi autonomous community in Nkwerre LGA are yet to come to terms as regards the cause of the death of four young men in the area.
A source told Trumpeta that on the ninth of this month, one of the indigenes of Agbala village had returned home in company of three other friends for a burial ceremony. The three other friends were said to have come from Anambra State to know the home of their bereaved friend.
After the burial which was acclaimed to be worth the while, the gentleman happily went home after destroying the liquid contents of many bottles.
The source disclosed that the host young man on reaching home did put on the Gen set inside the building corridor, they went in, undressed partially and dosed off.
Early the next morning, an artisan who was invited for a job had reported but could not have access into the rooms he was scheduled to in. He became worried and created scenes. People gathered and it was decided that the doors be forced open. Behold, occupants of the room were found stone dead. The gen set, which had been on all night long had burnt out.
It is believed they inhaled the fumes of the gen set because both Windows and doors where they slept were securely locked probably to check activities of big boys in the area.
The dead are said to have been deposited at the mortuary of St Joseph Hospital, Okwelle.
In an interview, the traditional ruler of Ishiala Umudi autonomous community in Nkwerre LGA, Eze Joel Udenkwo confirmed the incident as he has been briefed
Eze Udenkwo lamented the loss and advised that people should learn where and how to handle their gen sets as the heat is around the corner especially the forthcoming Christmas period.
