How Hausa Fulani Herdsmen Terrorized Irete Community, Youths

Youths in Irete Community have opened up on how Hausa Fulani cattle rearers terrorized them.
According to one of the spokesperson of the Irete youths who protested over the attack on Mr Sunny George Duru, said, the cattle rearers attacked and raped some helpless females in the farm, gunned down and matcheted some boys who have gone to rescue the rape victims. He said what baffled the entire Irete community was that the herdsmen were armed with heavy weapons. “The guy was shot on the stomach. The stomach opened and intestines came out. Right now he is lying critically ill in Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri”, he explained.
“For this dastardly act of the Fulani herdsmen, Irete people called on the governor of Imo state to urgently tell the Fulanis to leave their land before they take law into their own hands.We are not happy about the mess and masscare. We have written to the ministries of Agriculture and Women Affairs, but none replied our letters”, they lamented.
While addressing the group of protesters who carried placards at Government House gate which read “Governor Rochas Enough is Enough”, the political adviser to Chief of staff, Hon Kelechi Okoro, emplored them to be patient as the governor who traveled outside the country will be presented their protest letter to when he returns. He also told them to establish community policing. He promised that government will take care of those who were hospitalized.
