Okorocha’s Parting Gift To Ndi Imo

Since May 2012 Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been at the Douglas House, Owerri otherwise known as the Government House and Seat of Power.
And right from the first day he stepped into the office, Owelle Rochas Okorocha did not hesitate to tell every Imo citizen and those who cared to hear that he has come to Rescue the state from bad administrations in the past.
Perhaps because of this zeal, the Governor went ahead to make it clear to all and sundry that he is in a hurry to make a difference in the entire landscape of Imo State.
Working on the premise, Governor Okorocha started with a lot of construction and rehabilitation work within the three geo-political zones of the state.
This could be felt through re-surfacing of some bad tarred roads, opening of new ones both at the capital and local government levels, construction of round abouts, among others.
However, stories were told in between this process which ranged from default by contractors and government at different points to obstructions occasioned by the rains and other natural occurrences.
Be that as it may, it is instructive at this point to remind the Governor that time is tickling away as we enter 2014 ahead of 2015.
And while this time tickles, most of these laudable projects especially the rural road constructions are yet to be realized. Whatever the reasons are is immaterial as the end always justifies the means.
The people of the state are anxiously waiting for the full realization of the ongoing road projects scattered in all the local governments of the state from their rescuer who told them that he is in a hurry to make a difference.
It will be full heady to score the Governor in this write up over his performance even as he still has some more time before full injury time. The truth of the matter is that we have had Governor Rochas Okorocha who governed the state between 2011 till 2015 and made his marks.
Whether the marks he made is meaningful or meaningless is another kettle of tea entirely. But one thing which is important to Ndi Imo at this auspicious time is a parting gift from their Governor at the end of the day.
It is therefore instructive to advice the Governor to rather than focus on new projects this time around to consider concluding all the ongoing projects which his administration has embarked upon. And by so doing he will be leaving some legacies behind for posterity.
Suffice it to say that the worse parting gift which Governor Okorocha can give to his people is a litany of abandoned and uncompleted projects especially in the road sector.

As 2015 Draws Nearer, Imo Rural Roads To Be Abandoned?

The Imo Rescue Mission administration led by His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, no doubt has done well in the infrastructural development of both the urban and rural dwellers which started like a brimstone on the early month of 2013, and gave an imaginable halt around October 2013.
It is on this note that I deemed it fit to remind the Number one citizen of the state that what he started has been rendered ruse which some well- meaning Imolites up till now are thinking whether it is a mirage or a deliberate act for 2014 campaign.
Some roads in the rural areas are no longer accessible thereby living the aged men and women to a miserable condition caused by heavy gullies, pot-holes and uncontrollable dust. I can vividly remember the words implored by Governor Okorocha at the new building material complex at Orlu during an inspection tour in the area. He said “My people, I promise to make 2013 Christmas yuletide a memorable one which has never been witnessed in the past. I will do so starting with the immediate tarring of all the roads in all the nooks and crannies of the zone which must be completed before 25th December, 2013” unfortunately, all the spoken promises made by him is yet to be accomplished.
Moreso Sir, permit me to say without any fear of equivocation that there has been popular agitation going on in all corners of the state that the uncompleted roads scattered in the state might not be revisited again, until electioneering campaign period which will be used as “catch point for him”. It is quite disheartening to keep such bad records for the executive Governor of a state. However, an adage use to say “How you make your bed, so shall you lie on it”. Who is to blame?
Furthermore, the people of Oru East and the neighbouring local governments have decried often for Governments prompt intervention in construction of their dilapidated roads. The Governor should make out time to visit Oru East in particular. The roads leading from Awo-Omamma, Amiri, Orie-Amiri, Omuma road and Amiri junction/Ubahazu to Afor-Atta roads needs prompt intervention. The red sands heaped in the area is also a great mishap causing road lavoc, there leading to frequent accidents, and traffic jams.
Sir, I hope to rest my pen here as good road is one of paramount responsibility of every good governance. I therefore beckon on Okorocha to fulfill his mandates before the expiration of his tenure.
