2015: We Need Competence Not Equity, Says Dr Steve Orji

To realize the crave for good governance in Imo State come 2015 political dispensation, a business mogul, philanthropist and a PDP gladiator, Hon Dr Steve Orji has harped on the need to vote competent mind to salvage the state from the shackles of bad administration, and not necessarily on the strata of Equity.
Dr Steve noted that days are gone when politics are played on personal interest, stressing that Imo State should not stick on the Imo charter of Equity which if made rigid may breed bad eggs in elective or appointive positions. He harped that nothing is wrong for people to be allowed to bring out their best candidates who they feel can do well; not minding the zone the person comes from. The PDP front liner also disclosed that gubernatorial position is a sensitive position which needs a pragmatic and competent person to deliver the state. However, he enjoined the masses and top politicians to embrace true practice of democracy.
Speaking further, he maintained that PDP remains ever ready in actualizing its dreams come 2015. He opined that APC is like a kindergartens school under nurture and cannot wrestle power with PDP which he addressed as a bulldozer and of popular support. Dr Steve challenged Nigerians to be objective in all their dealings and never allow APC grab any position. He stressed that APC is not an Igbo party, but a conglomerate of Hausa extremists and Yoruba zealots, urging the Igbo nation not to vote for them as there is no benefit to be derived from them.
In a related development, the Ihioma born philanthropist harnessed that he feels fulfilled whenever he empowers the less privileged and the indigent widows in the society. He added that his foundation, “Voice of the people’s foundation” is poised at eradicating crimes and social vices to its barest minimum through the numerous empowerments and skill acquisition programmes which is ongoing. “It is better to teach people how to fish then to give people fishes. I am doing it so as to put smiles in the faces of the less privileged and the indigent widows. If these people are empowered, crime will be eliminated. I urge politicians and the well meaning individuals in the society to be supportive of the change”. Dr Steve concluded.
