The second edition of the Nkwerre LGA Unity Football Competition for all the communities in the area powered by the honourable member representing Nkwerre State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obinna Okwara will kick-off on Sunday November 30, at the Nkwerre Sports Complex.
According to a report emanating from the Championship Coordinator, Mr. Dike Chuks, the competition which is in its second edition will see the maiden champions, Onusa-Nkwerre take on Umukor in the opening game which will be played at Eze Ugochukwu Sports Complex, Nkwerre.
He maintained that the tournament is one of the numerous programmes designed by Prince Obinna to help empower the youths of his constituency as well as to aid in curbing social vices especially during the yuletide period.
The competition according to Chuks is also positioned to help harvest the football talents in the area that will one day become professionals.
It could be recalled that at the end of last edition (2013/14), the winners (Onusa-Nkwerre) went home with a giant trophy and the sum of four hundred thousand (400,000) naira and the 1st runners-up, Umukor, went home with two hundred thousand (200,000) naira as eight (8) other teams received fifty thousand naira as participation fee.
