In show of solidarity to the All Progressive Congress, APC, the people of Awarra in Ohaji/Egbema LGA Imo State last Monday converged on “Show Us The Man Group” secretariat in Owerri to support the campaign championed by Prince Dr Henry Okafor whom they recognized as their illustrious son and political Leader.
Speaking on behalf of the group from Awarra during their courtesy call, a youth leader from the area, Mr. Okechukwu Nwoke stated that people of the area have suffered governments neglect for a long time, adding that their loyalty to the party had remained because of prince Dr Henry Okafor as they have nothing to show for their massive vote and support towards the party in their area.
The group appealed for the Rescue Mission’s urgent intervention in roads, schools, hospitals, electricity and demanded for ISOPADEC MD appointment from their community or risk their support and loyalty ahead 2019.
According to them, “we want ISOPADEC MD appointment from Awarra if not, our support for APC will be affected, we have nothing to show as APC loyal members, Awarra has remained backward, under developed. For us to be part of Imo State and continue support for Okorocha, we’ll need ISOPADEC MD position” he stressed.
Responding, former ISOPADEC GM and immediate past Senior Special Adviser to Imo State Government, Prince Dr Henry Okafor while interacting with the group pointed out that their appeal for Governor Okorocha to appoint an Indigene as the next MD ISOPADEC was not out of place. He advised them to be supportive and appreciate Governor Okorocha’s efforts in the state to as to drive home their demand.
The frontline politician posited that since the creation of Imo State, the Rescue Mission of Governor Okorocha has remained the only administration to have remembered the people of the area. He blamed the under development in Awarra to neglect of past government’s, adding that the area should have been highly developed with Governor Okorocha’s continued intervention but assured the present government presence in their community.
He enjoined the people to maintain the continued peace and unity in the area so as to foster development to their community. According to him, “appointees from the hydro carbon area will make concerted efforts to always notify the governor of the urgent need to develop areas/communities in dare need of his developmental strides” he assured.
Lending his voice, the current Deputy Transition Committee Chairman of Oguta LGA, Comrade Amaechi Adibuo who reeled the giant stride of Governor Okorocha and track records of Prince Dr Henry Okafor appreciated the group for channeling their demand through the right quarters. He urged the group to be steadfast with APC and the Rescue Mission administration as the urban renewal program which is transforming the state capital may be extended to their area before the end of the Governor Okorocha’s tenure.
Earlier, Dr Henry Okafor hinted that “Show Us The Man And Go To Sleep” campaign was a program for continuity ahead 2019. He believed that governor Okorocha have all it takes to anoint a successor who will be accepted by Imo people as he assured that in a short while the successor will emerge and show us the man campaign will throw their weight behind such person.
