The plots to unseat the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere may suffer a fresh hitch, following an alleged breach of contract, bothering on trust between the Executive and the Legislature.

For some period now, plans have been on top gear, for the impeachment of Okorocha’s Deputy over a purported act of “gross misconduct” as interpreted by the State legislature.

While over eighteen lawmakers have signed the impeachment notice of Madumere, the Chief Judge who was mandated to set up a panel of 7-man committee of unquestionable character is yet to report back to the plenary, even as Tuesday’s supposed plenary session was adjourned to a later date.

Against this backdrop, the purported non- payment of salaries of the legislators from the month of June till date is said to have become a bridge to the actualization of the project.

Some of the lawmakers whose signatures were appended on the impeachment notice are said to reconsidering their steps for their neglect in the hands of the State Government who they accused of not keeping to their promises .

The participatory legislators up till now are said to have been waiting patiently for their June salaries, but nothing is forth-coming, even as the month of July is nearing to an end.

Trumpeta Newspaper gathered that part of the bargain between the Imo Executive and the legislature is for each party to keep to its promises.

On the side of the State law making body, they are believed to have fulfilled their own bargain, even as the process is ongoing, while the Executive which is expected to be providing the logistics, allowances and other incentives is not forthcoming in fulfilling its own part.

However, the lawmakers are facing serious threats to back out from further process that might lead to the impeachment of the Deputy Governor.

Giving reasons that if the Executive could still owe their salaries now that the job is yet to be executed, tales of woes await them when the matter has been successfully executed.

According to a lawmaker from Owerri zone extraction who spoke to Trumpeta correspondent under strict anonymity, “what type of “turn-turn” is this? to receive our June salaries is a problem, talk more of July salary. To be frank, I regret endorsing my signature on the impeachment of Madumere. Anyways, we are taking our stand soon”.

Apart from the lawmaker who offered his position on the impeachment and non- payment of salaries, Trumpeta was informed that if there is no intervention from the State Government, the House members may opt out of the action against Madumere.
