The Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Engr. Anthony Okwuosha, has called for the cooperation of the members of the Imo State House of Assembly in order to achieve the mandate of the Commission, stressing that the task before the Commission is monumental.
Engr. Okwuosha, Wednesday at Commission’s secretariat, Owerri, said this while interacting with members of the House Committee on NDDC, ISOPADEC and Oil and Gas.
He said: “Our work is huge given the misplaced priorities of the past. I cannot call it rot because not everything in the past was entirely wrong. But a lot of things were bad. So we will need you to advance our service delivery to our people”.
He asked the Committee Members and the entire House to support ISOPADEC and the good people of oil producing areas to effect a rise in the Commission’s share of the 13% Oil Derivation.
“From our end, we will work very well with you so that there will not be problems. The wealth of ISOPADEC is usually over-rated by outsiders, forgetting that we are past the era of oil boom. Please, be ready to support our people when they call for more fund for the development of the good people of oil producing areas”, he added.
Hon. Cyriacus Okoro, member representing Ohaji/Egbema in the Imo State House of Assembly while speaking said that they were on a working visit to familiarize with ISOPADEC Management as part of their oversight function.
The Ohaji/Egbema legislator who is the Chairman House Committee on ISOPADEC, NDDC and Oil and Gas said his Committee would live up to desired expectations of the people.
Committee Members who had joined their Chairman on the familiarization visit were: Barr. Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West) and Hon. Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu Mbaise). Also present were Chief Eddy Obinna (Aboh Mbaise) and Barr. Magnus Obido (Governing Board Chairman, ISOPADEC) and all the Management Staff of ISOPADEC.
