As the world commemorates the 2020 International Youth Day, with the view to addressing issues bordering on the youths globally, an illustrious son of Imo State, Amb. Dr. Andrew Onyekachi Amaechi has felicitated the progressives.
Amb. Amaechi was recently bestowed with a prestigious honours from both the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, and Youth Envoy of the African Union, for his outstanding nature to human capital development.
In a warm greeting made available to Trumpeta Newspaper, Amb. Amaechi expressed optimism that the youths one day would ascend to a more enviable heights in both politics and the society.
He retorted that a nation without youth is empty, hence the need to integrate them in the scheme of things, globally.
Regrettably, the award winning recipient of the ECOWAS Youth Council frowned at the look down on the youths, especially in Nigeria where youths are often used as tools in the hands of egocentric fellows.
Calling on the populated ‘future leaders’ to take the bull by the horn, by making themselves relevant in any field they find themselves, Amaechi said the time is now, and not later.
The Ahiazu Mbaise born young technocrat admonished all and sundry on the importance of entrusting leadership positions on the youths, stressing that the future apparently lies in their hands.
Amaechi further clamoured for an enabling ground for the youths to thrive, as well as creating secured job opportunities.
According to him, ‘Most of the social unrest around the world is propelled by lack of funds and job. An idle mind, as we know is a devil’s workshop.
“The world will be a better place once the youths are placed in better positions”.
Meanwhile, Amb. Amaechi enjoined the youths on self reliance and perseverance, stating that the are the real change themselves.
He also warned them against resorting to crime and violence.
