It is now crystal clear that things have fallen apart as the centre no longer hold in Okigwe zone of Imo State on the issue of concensus candidate for  All Progressive Congress, APC on the Senatorial bye election of Okigwe coming up in few weeks time.
The aspirants recently alleged that they were extorted heavily coupled with the inability of the 9-Man Committee for the concensus candidate to harmonize things.
Each of the panel members were said to be busy planning to favour his own person against the wish of others.
Trumpeta learnt that the various factions of Imo APC did not agree to work together until few days ago.
Sources said that over the weekend, the factions of APC in Okigwe zone met at Isiala Mbano and agreed that the concensus candidate issue can no longer work out. For that reason, the party resolved to go back to the field so that members will choose the aspirant that will be the flag bearer of APC in Okigwe zone that will stand in the election.
While majority of the Okigwe zone politicians want Ihitee Uboma, the home LGA of the late Senator Ben to bring a candidate that will win and save out the tenure of the dead Senator who died last year while in active service, others want Okigwe LGA and Onuimo to produce the APC flagbearer.
It was gathered that Okigwe zone is the only area that has not produced a Senator.
Meanwhile INEC has given parties 48hrs to fix date and venue of the Senatorial bye election primaries in Okigwe zone. The factions in APC uptil now are still battling.
