Government of Imo state has approved the payment of the sum of N2.7b to eleven local government areas in the state that met the requirements of the monitoring team for the ongoing rural road projects in parts of the state.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Deacon Chike Okafor announced this last Wednesday, briefing news men at the Government House Owerri.
The commissioner gave the local governments that met with the requirements, Nwangele, Mbaitolu, Isiala Mbano, Isu, Onuimo Owerri North, Obowu, Okigwe, Ikeduru, Ngor Okpala and Njiaba commissioner Okafor recalled that recently, the state governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha announced the release of the sum of N10b to be paid to contractors handling the rural road projects who had completed laterite stage of the project, the commissioner urged contractors who are yet to complete the required stage to do so especially now that the rainy season is fast setting in.
