Indications emerged at the weekend on the possible dissolution of the twenty seven Local Government Transition chairmen in the state this week by the Imo State House of Assembly.

The dissolution according to Imo Trumpeta checks has become imminent because of the controversy which has trailed the performances of the chairmen from both within and outside the state.

Aside from the abysmal performances of the chairmen, the structure of their activities has also dwarfed the oversight duties of the legislature which constitutionally is empowered to supervise and monitor their performances as part of their oversight legislative functions.

Pigged by these developments, majority of the Legislators have come to terms with the leadership of the House over the immediate dissolution of the transition committee chairmen with immediate effect.

To further demonstrate that their action is in the over all interest of the state, it is gathered that the legislators have given the governor the mandate to re-appoint any of the transition chairmen in the new emerging committee.

It was further gathered that most of the council chairmen are having frosty relationship with their honourable members.

While some of the council bosses don’t carry along the lawmakers, others are always at war with their representatives in the state assembly in the course of discharging their duties. Worse still certain “Privileges” due to the members from the councils have not been made available to the lawmakers by the transition committee chairmen.

Another cause of friction between the TC chairmen and lawmakers is the inability of the former to consider the House members in the scheme of things, like award of contracts and choice for execution of projects.

A recent incident in Oguta council area where the TC chairman was accused by some members on committee work in the area of sponsoring hoodlums to attack them while undertaking their oversight functions.

More so, plethora of petitions bothering on fraud and unwholesome acts against the TC chairmen continue to flood the Assembly prompting the recent invitation of the council bosses to the Assembly for re – confirmation.
