Indications emerged at the weekend, that the member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon Victor Mere, has abandoned his private residence located at World Bank Housing Estate, New Owerri.
Trumpeta learnt that Hon Mere may have decided to forgo his private abode as a result of a shootout in his home which led to the untimely death of one of his aides.
The lawmaker’s home had been invaded by security operatives. There were conflicting details of what actually led to the shootout at Hon Mere’s home, but an account stated that his aides were in possession of relevant election materials pertaining to the Oguta re-run election in Oguta. The Lawmaker has severally denied these allegations, though he is yet to give detailed account of what transpired.
However, it was observed that after the ugly incident took place, the lawmaker is yet to be sighted at his private home for fear of the unknown. “Since the incident took place, the lawmaker has vanished into the air. There is no evidence of anyone living there” said a neighbour of the member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency. This development was confirmed by Trumpeta which observed the situation at the weekend.
His whereabouts is also unknown as he has not been absent at public functions organized by his constituents, including the grand finale of the 2013 August Meeting organized by women in Owerri Municipality held at Ugwu Ekwema Civic Centre, along Egbu road, Owerri.
It will be recalled that Hon Mere had organized a motley crowd that took to the streets of Owerri demanding the arrest of those who shot and killed his aide.
