Imo Govt. Harps On Internal Security As Jude Ejiogu receives VGN

The Imo State Government has reiterated its resolve to maintain and ensure strict improvement of internal security in all the 27 council areas of the state in line with the Rescue Mission administration’s plans to make the state a crime free zone.
Making the promise on behalf of the state government on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 while receiving members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) led by their state Commander, Mr. Emmanuel Oguike, the Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Special Duties, Sir Jude Ejiogu commended the group’s determination to assist Governor Rochas Okorocha’s led government in tackling crime and other social vices in the state advising them to be up and doing in ensuring that they live a foot print that would be worthy of emulation.
Sir Ejiogu while hinting further directed the group to articulate and report back how their funds, membership and sponsorship were been derived pointing out that the government would leave no stone unturned in assisting them to ensure the protection of lives and property of the Imolites.
In his presentation, Imo State Commander of VGN, Mr. Emmanuel Oguike said that the group is represented in all communities and LGAs in the state with local commanders and described VGN as strong security instrument that is capable of reducing crime to the barest minimum.
Mr. Oguike while disclosing further said that VGN has over 3000 members in the state assuring that they would mobilize their members when their services were even as he appealed to the state government to fully integrate them into the state security arrangement.
Continuing, the commander therefore revealed that their membership and funding were drawn from volunteers who see and appreciate their good services to the society maintaining that if fully integrated into the state security arrangement by Governor Okorocha’s led Rescue Mission administration; they would help in combating crime even as he regretted the increasing rate of crime in the society.
