Heartland duo of Kabiru Umar and Benjamin Francis were on Friday dropped along side seven other home based Eagles players from the AFCON 2013 qualifying game againstLiberia.
Head coach of theNigeriafootball team, Stephen Keshi had to drop nine players ahead of the 2013 African Nations cup making way for the invited foreign based players.
Keshi is expected to make public his final list of players to execute the game againstLiberiain the coming days.
Other players who also got the drop are Kano Pillars Papa Idris, Rising Stars Henry Ezekiel, ABS Christian Ofili, Fame FC’s Chibuzor Onyeukwu, Crown’s Femi Ajayi and Rangers Ogochukwu Uzonna.
The Super Eagles gaffer while dropping the home lads did his best to lift their spirits as he told them to “Just ensure that all you learnt here is not wasted and continue to feature regularly for your club side, so that we will have reasons to recall you.
Many of those who are here with us now have been dropped and recalled several times,” said Keshi.
Meanwhile Goal keeper, Daniel Akpeyi survived the cut as the duo of Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide joins the team this week for a place between the stick.
