The Chief mover of the motion, Hon Johnleoba Iheoha noted that since inception of the incumbent administration in Imo, the government has continuously sought effective means of diversifying the State’s economy and harnessing the full potential of its abundant natural resources.

Also, the lawmaker observed that the successful exploration and development of these reserves will not only enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State but also create employment opportunities, stimulate industrial activities, and promote infrastructural development within the host communities and across the State.

He disclosed that the Shell Company started drilling of oil in Iho Dimeze of Ikeduru LGA way back in 1950, and till date, the wells still exists.

According to Iheoha, “The oil and gas deposits are now in commercial quantity and the State can tap from it till the next 200 years. That is why I brought this motion to the Chambers for onward action from the Government”.

Expressing his willingness to assist, Hon Johnleoba Iheoha promised to attract his foreign investors anytime the government swings into action on it.
