ENCOMIUMS POUR IN AS OPIAH EXTENDS COMPASSION TO THE LESS PRIVILEGED

A wave of heartfelt encomiums has continued to pour in for the Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah, former Minister of State for Education, following his generous gesture of celebrating and empowering over 200 indigent individuals drawn from the three local government areas within his federal constituency Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta, and Oru West in Imo State.

The event, which was marked by gratitude and emotional appreciation, reinforced Opiah’s long-standing commitment to uplifting the less privileged and ensuring that those at the margins of society are not forgotten.

Speaking during the occasion, an evidently fulfilled Opiah explained that the outreach aligns with his lifelong passion for supporting the downtrodden. He noted that nothing gives him greater joy than making meaningful contributions to those who truly need assistance.

He emphasized that beneficiaries were carefully selected to reflect genuine need, adding that programmes designed for the poor must never be hijacked by individuals who are already well-to-do. According to him, resources intended for the vulnerable must reach the vulnerable.

In her remarks, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Nnani, wife of the Executive Chairman of Oguta LGA, paid glowing tribute to Opiah, describing him as a humble, visionary, and intelligent leader whose compassion touches lives silently and sincerely. She recounted a personal story of how Opiah facilitated her employment in a tertiary institution without knowing her identity, a gesture she said reflects uncommon humanity and leadership worthy of emulation.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Team Opiah, Dr. Henry Adimelechi, praised Opiah’s empathy and unwavering passion for service, noting that his consistent people-oriented actions have endeared him to many. He stated that the credibility and impact of Team Opiah have grown tremendously because the leader at the helm leads with integrity and compassion.

Some beneficiaries also expressed profound gratitude. Mrs. Cordelia Odoemenam thanked Opiah for remembering the less privileged and prayed that more leaders would adopt his example. Another beneficiary, Mrs. Ugo Josephine, appreciated his kindness and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon him.

The ceremony climaxed with the symbolic cutting of Opiah’s birthday cake, accompanied by dignitaries and community leaders who reaffirmed their admiration for his noble deeds.

A Message of Hope and Courage

This event stands as a powerful reminder that leadership is not only about occupying a position, it is about touching lives, lifting others, and restoring hope where it is fading. Opiah’s gesture encourages society to embrace empathy, integrity, and genuine service.

At a time when many people struggle with economic hardship, his actions inspire courage:

Courage to care.

Courage to give.

Courage to stand for the vulnerable.

Courage to believe that a better society is possible through collective compassion.

Through this act of generosity, Opiah reinforces the timeless truth that even small acts of kindness can create ripples of hope, and that when leaders lead with a heart for humanity, communities thrive.
