There is Mass Exodus of school children from Imo public schools to private colleges since primary and secondary schools resumed for the new academic year.

Our roving reporter observed that parents who are not happy with the delay by the State Government to process and release results of the Exams their children registered for since 2020 have resolved to withdraw them from the public schools so that they could be register in the private schools.

Report has it that good number of school children who left the primary school this year, instead of moving into the public secondary schools went straight to private colleges.

Further report has it that those for Exam classes vowed not to register with government schools to avoid seizing of their results.

Information revealed that since 2020, results of First School Living Certificate (FSLC) and that of Basic Education Certificate have not been released in Imo.

Those who registered for the above mentioned Exams for 2020, 2022 and 2023 up till now are yet to get their results.

The Examination Development Centre office located along Orlu road  Owerri, is now said to be under serious trouble because of this.

We gathered from a reliable source that the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma released millions of naira for the conduct of these Examinations  but things did not go down well as those at the  helm  affairs in the Education Sector in Imo  were alleged to have misbehaved which has now affected the processing of the result of the Exam.

Recently we were told that the Governor set up fresh committee to look into the matter and find out what should be done for the results to be released, but uptil now nothing much has taken place.

In a related development, more than half of the secondary schools in Imo State for more than two years now have not been getting their senior WAEC results.

Ikenegbu girls secondary school, Egbu Comprehensive, City School, Government College Owerri, Akwakuma girls secondary school, Urban secondary school  and many other schools too numerous to be mention  are yet to get their results.

WAEC accused these schools mentioned above of partaking in examination malpractice.

Apart from seizing their results, the affected schools were asked to pay N500,000.

This payment is now causing confusion in the school system as the umbrella body that is protecting all the principals of school in Imo State (ANCOPSS) is saying that there was no malpractice during the Exams.
