Indications are that the coming general election will be keenly contested by interested stakeholders in Imo State as individuals and groups have commenced verbal interest.

Ahead of 2015 elections, a prominent political activist and business mogul from Ngor Okpala LGA, Dr Theodore Ekechi, otherwise known as TOE Ekechi has said that his people will contest in any of the vital elective positions.

Speaking during an interactive session with members of Independent Newspapers Publishers Association, INPA, in Owerri, Dr Ekechi noted that the people of Ngor Okpala has been at the losing end of the game of politics in Imo since Nigeria’s nascent democracy debuted.

According to Ekechi, “No Ngor Okpala person has become the Governor of Imo state, Senator representing Owerri Zone and Minister. What we have managed to get is only one term representation in the Federal House, which is not enough and adequate in our Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency. We have been shortchanged in the scheme of things. In 2015, our people will be out for this sensitive position. And people like us cannot be left out in the struggle”.

Dr Ekechi, who lamented the continued marginalization of Ngor Okpala said that he will be one of those who will take the task of fighting the curse of the people’s political liberation. Even as the marketing guru who is into brands, media and marketing did not make public any position he would vie for in 2015 disclosed that it is premature to declare interest now.

The former UNPP candidate for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency election in the past stated that his people have been yearning for the elective positions, adding that their desire would be realized in 2015.

On the recent bomb attack on buses in Kano which recorded several casualties, Dr Ekechi tasked Igbo leaders to wake up and react over the rampant killing of Ndigbo by Boko Haram members. “I expect our leaders to wake up and end this unwarranted massacre of our people under the guise of Boko Haram”.
