Bishop of Anglican Diocese Tells FG on Stalk Taking

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu RT. Rev Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okorafor has adviced the federal government to do a stock taking of the situation in the country.

Bishop Okorafor who gave the advice in his Presidential Address to the Third Session of the Tenth Synod of the Diocese, held at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Obokwe, Ngor Okpala, LGA, Imo State, urged for a possible conference to address the nagging issues of serious concern in the nation. He explained that it was not possible to address a problem of a similar impossible approach and expect to achieve desired result.

The Bishop’s Address with the theme as “The Lord’s New Commandment….Love One Another ( John13:34)…,A Charge To Keep , decried the deflection of Governors to the ruling party, describing the move as not healthy in a democracy for a nation with it’s ethno- religious and tribal idiocracy;only time would give the clear result, he emphasized.

Bishop Okorafor while commending the Imo State Governor,Senator Hope Uzodinma for various laudable achievements in the state, include being the state with the highest minimum wage in the country, sponsorship of pilgimage to the Holy land, improved infrastructure he implored him to address the challenge of insecurity especially on the Owerri,Ngor Okpala Aba road which he said has become a nightmare to travellers. He also noted with nostalgia the state of public schools both primary and secondary in the State canvassing for the need to prioritise and improve them urgently, with new commitments .

Bishop Okorafor was full of gratitude to God for the successful planting of two migrants churches in the Diocese . He disclosed that the migrant Churches consisting indigenes of Northern extraction living in the Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri, are located in the Industrial Cluster along Naze/Nekede road and Egbu Comprehensive Secondary school junction,along Road Safety, Egbu. The Diocese he said, has at different times sponsored outreaches in partnership with the Church of Nigeria Missionary Society for their Spiritual uplifting.

Archbishop emeritus of Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri and retired Bishop of Orlu, Most Rev. B.C I Okoro, Bishops Chidi Oparaojiaku, Emma Maduwihe PhD, Chamberlain Ogunedo,

Chukwuma Oparah ,Chibuike Oti, Geoffrey Chikwunoye, Henry Okeke,Godson Ukanwa, Benjamin Okeke , Paul Ogenali and retired Bishop of Mbaise, Rt Rev Bright Ogu . The pioneer Bishop of the Diocese, RT. Rev Prof. Emmanuel Uchechukwu Iheagwam and wife Mrs Adaku Grace Iheagwam were also in attendance.

The Chancellor of the Diocese Chief Magistrate Moreen Onyewuotu and the legal team were also present.

Also in attendance were some members of the Joint Council of Knights lead by its leader Dame. Julie Assor. a galaxy of Knights of the Diocese of Egbu amongst others.
