Most Rev David Onuoha has applauded the Diocese of Egbu in setting up the migrants Mission to accommodate the spiritual wellbeing of these people of northern extraction living amongst them.

ArchBishop Onuoha made the commendation while acknowledging the Bishop of Egbu’s Presidential Address to the Third Session of the Tenth Synod of the Diocese, held at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Obokwe, Ngor Okpala, LGA, Imo State.

He said the Diocese of Egbu in collaboration with the Diocese of Owerri have by the gesture expressed practical love to these migrants of Northern extraction living in the Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri. He noted that without such exhibition of love whoever lives was counted dead before God, describing the development of the migrant mission as an expression of love to these people living amongst them, emphasising that as the spirit of the Igboman and Christianity, which he noted was capable of liberating these migrants from spiritual emancipation, fostering togetherness , peace and giving them a sense of belonging outside their region.

He urged Nigerians to know that in the heart of Igbo land the indigenous people were thinking of not only the welfare of those from outside Igboland living with them but also to ensure their safety and protection.

ArchBishop Onuoha who also is the Bishop of the Diocese of Okigwe South used the occasion to appealed to the

government and people of Lagos state to see the Igbos living amongst them as brothers and sisters, to whom they ought to extend the love of Christ adding that without such though they live, should be counted dead before God. He lamented the destruction of Igbo properties in Lagos describing it as inhuman and heartless .

The head of the Anglican Communion in the Owerri Province countered the claims of the Lagos State government for the demolitions and questioned if the urban planning laws in the State were not in place when the projects were conceived, full executed and furnished, stressing that the action of the Lagos State government was not only ethic profiling but wicked and callous.
