Ahiazu CGC Members Charged To Team-up For Success

Community Government Councils (CGCs) in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA have been inaugurated with a charge to eschew bitterness, rancor, dichotomy and work harmoniously as a team to realize the purposes for which they were appointed.

Performing the inauguration at the LG Council Hall, Afor Oru, the LGA Sole Administrator, Mrs. Grace Iwuchukwu reminded members in various autonomous communities that they were chosen based on their track records and urged them to shun corruption as well as remain transparent and accountable.

She stated that the appointment was neither political nor compensatory and enjoined them to work in tandem with their people and hasten to pay the N250,000.00 counterpart funding of N1M to access N750,000.00 state government fund for speedy development of their communities.

Mrs. Iwuchukwu extolled Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his ingenuity in setting up community government and advised them to be humble in service and keep strictly to the terms service to foster peace, security and sustainable progress.

The Solad charged the traditional rulers as chairmen of the CGC boards, the executive secretaries and account heads to carry the secretaries, women and youth leaders along and jettison acts that could put them in disrepute.

She emphasized on the need to regularly monitor projects in the communities to ensure speedy execution according to specifications, warning against working across purposes, insubordination and mutiny for enduring harmonious working relationship.

Speaking, the Majority Leader Imo State House Assembly, Hon. (Mrs.) Adaku Ihuoma said community government has come to stay and charged the members to work under the ambit of the CGC law and respect their traditional rulers.

Earlier, the State Commissioner Special Duties and Government Liaison Officer (GLO) Ogbe Ahiara, Prince Charles Onuoha said the appointment was a call to duty and enjoined them to be compliant with Imo rescue mission agenda and give agriculture priority to lessen dependence on the dwindling oil for food sufficiency, job, wealth creation and explosive grassroots development.

He said the CGC would promote healthy competition among communities, disclosing that best communities would be awarded trophies, after periodic contest.

The Commissioner tasked them on the palm to palm agro scheme of the state government, recalling that agriculture was the mainstay and defence of Nigeria economy before oil boom.
